  • 1/4 cup Melted Butter Coconut oil works for a dairy-free prep.
For the Baking Soda Bath
  • 4 cups Water No substitutions necessary.
  • 1/4 cup Baking Soda Essential without substitutions.
For the Egg Wash
  • 1 large Egg Can be omitted for a vegan version by using plant-based milk.
  • 1 tablespoon Water

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a stand mixer, combine all-purpose flour, sugar, instant yeast, warm milk, melted butter, and salt. Mix on low speed for about 4–5 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic.
  2. Transfer the dough into a lightly greased bowl, cover it, and place it in a warm area for 30–60 minutes, or until doubled in size.
  3. Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper. Turn the risen dough out onto a floured surface and divide into 12 pieces.
  4. In a large pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil and stir in 1/4 cup of baking soda. Boil the pretzel bites for 30 seconds, turning them halfway through.
  5. Brush each bite with an egg wash and sprinkle coarse salt on top. Bake for 12–14 minutes or until golden brown.
