  • 1-2 cups Vegetables quick-cook like bell peppers or snap peas
Optional Toppings
  • to taste Sesame Seeds for crunch
  • to taste Sriracha or Hot Sauce for heat

Equipment

  • large skillet
  • Cooking pot

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a large skillet, heat over medium-high heat and add 1 pound of ground beef. Sauté for about 4-5 minutes, breaking it apart with a spatula until it’s browned and no longer pink. Drain excess fat if necessary, then stir in ¼ cup of soy sauce, 2 tablespoons of brown sugar, 3 cloves of minced garlic, and 1 teaspoon of freshly grated ginger. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the mixture is well combined and fragrant.
  2. Once the beef mixture is cooked through, reduce the heat to medium-low and drizzle 1 tablespoon of sesame oil into the skillet. Stir to evenly coat the beef, allowing the flavors to meld. Continue to cook for an additional 2 minutes, stirring frequently.
  3. While the beef simmers, prepare 2 cups of cooked rice according to package instructions. Fluff the rice with a fork and keep it warm.
  4. If adding vegetables, quickly sauté 1-2 cups of sliced bell peppers or snap peas in a separate pan over medium heat for 3-4 minutes until crisp-tender.
  5. To serve, scoop a generous portion of warm rice into each bowl, top with the savory ground beef mixture and sautéed vegetables.
  6. Finish your bowls by sprinkling chopped green onions and optional toppings like sesame seeds or sriracha. Serve immediately.
