For the Meat

For the Pasta
  • 2 cups Elbow Macaroni Other small pasta can be used with adjusted cooking times.
For the Sauce
  • 2 cups Tomato Sauce Use homemade or jarred sauce as preferred.
  • 1 cup Beef Broth Substitute with vegetable broth or water for a vegetarian version.
For the Seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon Italian Seasoning Blend of dried basil, oregano, and thyme.
For the Cheese
  • 1 cup Cheese (optional) Use mozzarella, cheddar, or a blend of Italian cheeses.
  • 1/4 cup Grated Parmesan (optional) Can be substituted with nutritional yeast for a dairy-free option.
For Garnish
  • 1/4 cup Fresh Parsley or Basil Optional but recommended for presentation.

Equipment

  • Large pot

Method

Cooking Steps
  1. In a large pot over medium heat, add the ground beef, diced onion, and minced garlic. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, breaking the beef apart with a spatula until browned and the onions are translucent.
  2. Once the meat is browned, stir in the tomato sauce, beef broth, and Italian seasoning. Mix well to combine the flavors and bring to a gentle simmer for 2 minutes.
  3. Add the elbow macaroni to the pot, making sure it's mostly submerged in the liquid. Increase heat to bring to a gentle boil, stirring occasionally.
  4. Reduce heat to low, cover the pot, and let it simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. After the pasta is tender, remove from heat and stir in the shredded cheese until it melts.
  6. Spoon the Beefaroni into serving bowls, and garnish with freshly chopped parsley or basil.
