  • 1 pound Shrimp, fresh or frozen, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tablespoons Shaoxing Wine or dry sherry as a substitute
  • 1 tablespoon Cornstarch for thickening
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon White Pepper
For the Sauce
  • 1 cup Chicken Stock or vegetable stock for lighter option
  • 2 tablespoons Oyster Sauce or hoisin sauce for a sweeter flavor
  • 2 tablespoons Soy Sauce or tamari for gluten-free option
  • 1 tablespoon Dark Soy Sauce or regular soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar can be omitted
For the Stir Fry
  • 4 cups Broccoli florets, fresh
  • 2 tablespoons Peanut Oil or canola oil
  • 3 cloves Garlic, minced fresh preferred
  • 1 tablespoon Ginger, minced

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a bowl, combine shrimp with Shaoxing wine, salt, white pepper, and cornstarch. Let sit for 15 minutes.
  2. In another bowl, whisk chicken stock, oyster sauce, soy sauces, sugar, and a pinch of white pepper. Add cornstarch gradually.
  3. In a skillet, boil 1/4 cup water. Add broccoli and steam for 1 minute. Transfer to a plate.
  4. Heat peanut oil in the same skillet. Cook marinated shrimp for about 1 minute, flip, then add garlic and ginger for another minute.
  5. Add the sauce to the shrimp, then add steamed broccoli. Stir for 2-3 minutes until sauce thickens.
  6. Serve hot over rice or on its own. Enjoy!
