  • 1 teaspoon Onion Powder or sautéed fresh onions
For the Au Jus
  • 4 cups Beef Broth or vegetable broth for a vegetarian option
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Soy Sauce or tamari for a gluten-free option
For Assembly
  • 4 rolls Hoagie Rolls ciabatta works great
  • 8 slices Provolone Cheese optional
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh Parsley optional, for garnish

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Pat the beef chuck roast dry with paper towels and rub with olive oil. Season with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  2. Optional: Sear each side of the seasoned roast in a skillet for 3-4 minutes until golden brown.
  3. Transfer the seasoned beef chuck roast into the Crockpot.
  4. Mix beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and soy sauce in a bowl, then pour over the roast in the Crockpot.
  5. Cover the Crockpot and cook on low for 8 hours.
  6. After cooking, remove the roast and let it rest for 5 minutes, then shred with forks.
  7. Return shredded beef to the Crockpot to soak in the juices for 10-15 minutes.
  8. Slice hoagie rolls open, toast if desired, then fill with shredded beef.
  9. Serve with au jus for dipping and garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
