  • 1 tbsp Olive Oil for sautéing
  • 1 medium Onion chopped, or shallots/leeks
  • 2 cloves Garlic minced, or use garlic powder
  • 4 medium Potatoes sliced, Yukon gold or russet
  • 2 cups Shredded Cheddar Cheese or Monterey Jack/Gouda
  • 1/2 cup Grated Parmesan Cheese optional
  • 2 tsp Dried Italian Seasoning substitute with oregano and basil
  • 1 tsp Paprika or chili powder for heat
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Pepper
  • 1 cup Beef Broth or Water or vegetable broth
  • 1/2 cup Milk optional for creaminess
  • 1/4 cup Fresh Parsley optional for garnish

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with olive oil or non-stick spray.
  2. Heat a tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook for 5-7 minutes until browned.
  3. Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for 3-4 minutes until the onion is translucent.
  4. Transfer the beef mixture into the baking dish and layer sliced potatoes on top. Season with salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, and paprika.
  5. Sprinkle shredded cheddar and grated Parmesan cheese over the potatoes, then pour beef broth around the edges of the dish.
  6. Cover the dish tightly with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  7. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  8. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy!
